Static to Blog Comparisons

The samples below show the before and after of six static HTML sites that were converted to WordPress sites. These were done with the intention of keeping the look and feel of the original site, although some changes were intentional. The conversion is never exact, but it can be very similar, using the same color scheme with the same general components. In some instances, additional changes were made to help complete the look of the new site; for instance, the pinstriped background on the health site (5th one down) was added instead of carrying over the pastel sidebar backgrounds.

As you can see, the blog layout does a better job of utilizing available space while organizing categories and pages in the left column. These samples use post thumbnails, but that is an option that can be turned off if desired. These were all done with the same theme; it’s very versatile. Some of the changes are done with the theme’s built in settings, and some were accomplished by changing the code.
